Strong Second Half Leads Lasers Past Framingham in Regular Season Finale

Framingham, Mass.- Four goals in the second half secured a 4-1 win for the Lasell women's soccer team on Wednesday afternoon at Framingham State University. The Lasers earned their last regular season win to improve to 15-2-1 overall, while the Rams drop to 6-10.

The Lasers had a great opportunity to score in the opening minutes when Devon Day (Hartland, Vt.) chipped a ball past the crashing Rams keeper towards the net but was cleared away by a Rams defender right in front of the goal line.

The Lasers came out of the break with two quick goals in the 48th and 50th minute. First, Megan Cullen (Amesbury, Mass.) scored her first of the day when she put in a rebounded shot from Erin Smith (Gorham, Maine). Carly Zdanek (Newton, NJ) added to the lead two minutes later, finishing a feed from sophomore Erika Badger (Scituate, Mass.).

The Lasers extended their lead ten minutes later when Caitlin Rotonnelli (Meredith, N.H.) scored with Casey Meissner (Sandwich, Mass.) assisting. The visitors reached the 4-0 margin when Cullen and Rotonnelli teamed up for their second of the night.

The Rams broke through in the 69th minute when Angela Pallotta (Sterling, Mass.) converted with Tess Gorman (Swampscott, Mass.) assisting the marker.

Sarah LaClair (Belchertown, Mass.) made six saves before giving way to Caitlin Greco (Higganum, Conn.) who made two saves in the win for the Lasers. Keyonzia Gagne-Lamoureux (East Brookfield, Mass.) made nine stops in net for the Rams.

The Lasers will host St. Joe's (Conn) in the quarterfinal of the GNAC tournament on Sunday, October 30th at 1:00 p.m. The Rams return to action on Saturday, October 29th when they host MCLA in a MASCAC matchup.
