Badger Pushes Women's Soccer to 10th Straight Win

NORTHFIELD, Vt.  – Sophomore Erika Badger (Scituate, Mass.) of the Lasell College women's soccer team scored a hat trick to lead the Lasers to a 5-0 victory and their 10th straight win on Monday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

Lasell (10-2-1, 7-0-1 GNAC) got on the board in the 29th minute with Badger's first goal of the game on a penalty kick. Megan Cullen (Amesbury, Mass.) scored just over two minutes later to stretch the lead to 2-0 when she tucked the ball into the right corner of the net after a crossing pass from the left by Emma Papile (Quincy, Mass.). The goal was Cullen's seventh of the season.

The Lasers kept the pressure up in the second half with Casey Meissner (Sandwich, Mass.) scoring her third of the season in the 55th minute with a shot from 25 yards out that she blasted past NU starting goalie Leandra Flores-Nieves (Colorado Springs, Colo.).

Badger capped the scoring with two more goals into the top of the net from outside the 18 at the 67:24 and the 69:36 mark.

Flores-Nieves made 10 saves for Norwich to fall to 2-6-1 on the year. Sarah LaClair (Belchertown, Mass.) picked up the win to improve to 10-2-1 without having to make a save.

Lasell outshot Norwich 37-2 on the game and had 16 corner kicks to Norwich's zero.

The Lasers will host Rivier University on Saturday, October 15 at 2:30 p.m. in honor of the six graduating seniors. Norwich (2-9-1, 1-7-0 GNAC) will look to break its losing skid when it hosts Saint Joseph's (Maine) at 3:30 on Saturday in its final home game of the 2016 season.
