Cullen Earns GNAC Offensive Player of the Year; Six Champions Chosen Overall

NEWTON, Mass. (11/9/15) – Following a 2015 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championship title, junior Megan Cullen (Amesbury, Mass.) was tabbed Offensive Player of the Year as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. This marks the fourth year in a row that Lasell College has secured this award, as former standout striker Bridget Lynch took the honor since 2012.

Cullen led all conference players in goals with 19 this season, topping the league in points with 38. In 20 games played for the Lasers, Cullen additionally netted five game-winners, including the deciding factor in a 1-0 victory over Emmanuel College, later tabbed as the GNAC finalists, in the regular season. Joining Cullen on the first team was junior Devon Day (Hartsdale, Vt.) who combined for 15 points overall with five goals and five assists in all 21 games played for the Lasers.

Seniors Bridget Munnelly (Bellingham, Mass.) and Leah Suto (Oxford, Conn.) earned Second Team honors, while junior Mack Kingman (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and sophomore Sarah LaClair (Belchertown, Mass.) were placed on the Third Team.

Munnelly posted a career-best season with two goals and 12 assists in all 21 games played for the Lasers. The senior midfielder bested all competing GNAC players in the assists category, while also tying the school record in single season helpers. Suto held down the defense for the Lasers as a center back and helped yield just 18 goals against this season, and was additionally named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Kingman controlled the center of the field, and registered her first collegiate goal (four overall) to go along with two assists for ten points.

LaClair recorded a remarkable season in the cage, starting in 18 games overall for over 1,500 minutes played. The sophomore net minder allowed just 12 goals for a 0.72 goals against average, two top statistics among all GNAC keepers. LaClair improved her save percentage from last year's outing (.831) to rank third in the league at .868. With a season record of 26-7-3, LaClair additionally recorded seven shutouts with a grand total of 79 saves.
