Bridget Lynch Named GNAC Offensive Player of the Year and Tournament MVP

NEWTON, Mass. (11/11/14) – For the third consecutive year, senior forward Bridget Lynch (Dover, N.H.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year. Joining her on the first team is sister senior Kayla Lynch (Dover, N.H). Sophomores Megan Cullen (Amesbury, Mass.), Devon Day (Hartford, Vt.) and Mackenzie Kingman (E. Bridgewater, Mass.) were placed on the Second Team, while senior Molly Masiero (Richmond, Mass.) was named on the Third Team. Bridget Lynch, Kayla Lynch, Cullen, Kingman, and Masiero were additionally chosen for the GNAC All-Tournament Team.

Bridget Lynch's contribution to the Lasers' 17-4 season was immense. The Dover, N.H. native led the league in goals (32) and assists (11), racking up 76 points in the 2014 season. In GNAC Tournament action, Bridget Lynch added six goals and five assists, leading her to be recognized as Tournament Most Valuable Player. In the national rankings for goals per game, points per game, total goals and total points, Bridget Lynch remains in the top-five. She will be looking to score 100 career goals this weekend, going into the NCAA Tournament with 98.

Kayla Lynch tallied seven goals and four assists for the Lasers in the 2014 season, collecting 18 total points.  She put up three goals and two assists in post-season action, and scored two game-winners on the year.

Cullen sits just below Bridget Lynch in goals and points, finishing with 22 and 51, respectively. Cullen was named Player of the Week earlier in the season when she scored a career-high four goals in the GNAC Quarterfinal match against Suffolk University. Cullen tallied 22 goals in 21 game appearances with an additional seven assists.

Day held down the midfield for the Lasers, appearing in 19 matches. She registered two goals and six assists, producing 13 shots on goal.  Kingman served as the backbone of the Lasell defense, contributing with textbook communication and technical skills. The E. Bridgewater, Mass. native was additionally chosen as the Lasell College representative for the GNAC Sportsmanship Team.

Masiero provided the Lasell women's soccer team with diligence, teamwork, and intelligence on the pitch.  She started in all 20 game appearances, and registered one goal and three assists. During her three-year span at Lasell, Masiero has collected 67 total points.

On the week of November 10th, freshman keeper Sarah LaClair (Belchertown, Mass.) was awarded Rookie/Goalkeeper of the Week. LaClair leads the conference in goals against (13) and goals-against average (0.81), while ranking second in save percentage (.835).  In 2014 post-season play, the rookie allowed one lone goal in net out of 15 shots faced.

The Lasers will travel to Williams College (16-1-1) for the opening round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday, November 15th
