Women's Soccer Tops Rhode Island College, 9-2 in Regular Season Finale

NEWTON, Mass. (10/29/14) – The Lasell College women's soccer team wrapped up their regular season with a 9-2 victory over Rhode Island College on Wednesday afternoon. The victory propelled Lasell to 14-4 overall while RIC slipped to 2-13-1 on the season.

Bridget Lynch scored four times for the Lasers, Megan Cullen added two goals and Bridget Makles, Andrea Boyer, and Erin Smith each tallied for Lasell. Casey Meissner finished with three assists in the match, while Sarah LaClair made a save and Caitlyn Greco stopped three shots in the victory.\

Angela Ragosta and Gabrielle Turner both scored for the Anchorwomen, and Justina Thoma and Audrey Maia made two and nine saves respectively.

Ragosta took advantage of a Lasers defensive breakdown to open the scoring in 2nd minute of the match on a feed from Jaclyn Greenman to put the visitors ahead 1-0. Megan Cullen took a thru ball from Meissner and pushed on to goal, beating Thoma with her shot to knot the score at 1-1. Bridget Lynch then put Lasell in front in the 16th minute when Meissner's feed played her in on goal to make it 2-1. Meissner set-up Cullen again in the 17th minute and Bridget Lynch tallied again in the 23rd minute to put the hosts on top 4-1. Makles made it a 5-1 margin in the 39th minute with her unassisted effort.

Bridget Lynch potted two more goals in the second half along with goals from Boyer and Erin Smith for Lasell to offset the Turner goal for RIC to produce the 9-2 final score.

Lasell is the top-seed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference tournament which will open on Sunday November 2nd when they host 8th seeded Suffolk University.
