Bridget Lynch Tallied Four Times as Lasell Tops JWU, 6-0 in Women's Soccer

NEWTON, Mass. (10/11/14) – The Lasell College women's soccer team kept their unbeaten run in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play alive with a 6-0 defeat of Johnson and Wales University on Saturday afternoon at Taylor Field. The Lasers improved to 9-4 overall and 7-0 in conference play while the Wildcats dropped to 7-7-1 on the year and 3-3-1 in conference action.

Bridget Lynch (Dover, N.H.) scored four times for Lasell, Megan Cullen (Amesbury, Mass.) tallied for the Lasers, while Casey Meissner (Sandwich, Mass.) notched a pair of assists and Molly Masiero (Richmond, Mass.) and Devon Day (Hartland, Vt.) each added a helper in the victory. Sarah LaClair (Belchertown, Mass.) stopped a pair of shots to record the clean sheet in net for Lasell.

 Tori Foster (Honolulu, Hawaii) and Kaitlyn Whalen (Whittier, Calif.) provided the offensive spark for Johnson and Wales with a shot on goal apiece and Alex Place (East Greenwich, R.I.) made five saves for the Wildcats in goal.

Megan Cullen got Lasell on the board in the 23rd minute when she got on the end of a Devon Day service and finished to give the Lasers a 1-0 lead. In the 30th minute Bridget Lynch made a run past several JWU defenders and into the box where she was pulled down to earn a penalty which she fired into the side netting for a 2-0 Lasell lead at the break.

A Lasell service into the box in the 55th minute helped Lasell to a 3-0 lead when a Wildcat defender errantly cleared the ball into the visitors net. Casey Meissner and Bridget Lynch hooked up twice, in the 70th and 79th minute as Lasell pushed their lead to 5-0 and Lynch scored her fourth of the match in the 81st minute when Molly Masiero's through ball sprung the senior who finished the scoring chance for her 16th goal of the season.

Lasell will host Suffolk on Tuesday October 14th at 4:00 p.m. while JWU will visit Norwich on Tuesday October 14th at 7:00 p.m.
