Women's Soccer Moves to 2-0 with 7-0 Victory over Alfred

GLASSBORO, N.J. (8/31/13) - The Lasell College women's soccer team turned in a strong performance in their second match of the year, defeating Alfred University 7-0 on the second day of the Rowan University tournament. Lasell improved to 2-0 on the season while Alfred dropped to 0-2 for the 2013 campaign.

Freshmen Devon Day (Hartford, Vt.) scored a pair of goals for Lasell and added an assist, Bridget Lynch (Dover, N.H.) also netted a pair of scores, while Molly Masiero (Richmond, Mass.), Kayla Lynch (Dover, N.H.) and Molly Lauver (Cambridge, N.Y.) each notched scores for the Lasers. 

Bridget Lynch opened the scoring in the 14th minute, taking a cross by Day into the box and beating the Saxons keeper for a 1-0 Lasers lead. Lasell quickly made it 2-0 when Molly Masiero collected a rebound off her own shot and finished it in the 18th minute. Lasell created a number of other quality chances in the first half, but were unable to capitalize, going into the half with a 2-0 lead.

Bridget Lynch pushed the Lasell lead to 3-0 with her unassisted tally in the 57th minute, and the Lasers put the match out of reach with consecutive unassisted goals by Day and Kayla Lynch to make it 5-0 in the 66th minute. Day got her second of the match with another unassisted goal in the 73rd minute, before Molly Lauver closed the scoring when she slotted a nice cross from Melissa Leonard (N. Brookfield, Mass.) into the back of the net.

Leah Pappalardo (Whitman, Mass.) improved to 2-0 in goal for Lasell, as she combined with Cina Grimes (Pelham, N.H.) and Caitlin Greco (Higganum, Conn.) on a clean sheet for Lasell.

Lasell will return to action on Wednesday September 4th when they square off with Coast Guard at 4:00 p.m. in their home opener.
