Women's Soccer Falls at St. Joseph's, 1-0

Newton, Mass. (10/15/12) - The Lasell College women's soccer team dropped a difficult 1-0 result at the University of Saint. Joseph's (Conn.) in a match-up of the top two teams in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference standings. The loss left Lasell at 10-3 overall and 8-2 in GNAC play, while USJ improved to 11-1-1 on the season and 9-0-1 in the conference.

The two squads finished with 12 shots on the day, with Lasell holding a slight edge in shots on goal at 9-6. Leah Pappalardo (Whitman, Mass.) made five saves on the day for the Lasers, while Melissa Dodge stopped nine shots for the Blue Jays. USJ's Tiana Saraceno scored the only goal of the day on an assist from Patricia Nolan.

In the 56th minute, Nolan took a pass just outside the top of the box and deftly slid a ball through to Saraceno who was pushing forward down the right side. Saraceno took a touch and drilled a shot into the lower right side of the goal for the only score of the match. The Lasers continued to press, and almost equalized in the latter stages of the match, with their best chance coming on a Reegan Brackett (Scarborough, Maine) strike that rang the crossbar in the 74th minute.

Saint Joseph will travel to Emerson on Wednesday October 17th, while Lasell will host Johnson and Wales University on October 17th at 3:30pm.
