Double Overtime Tussle Ends in Deadlock

Newton, MA— The Lasell College women's soccer team pulled ahead of Albertus Magnus late in Saturday afternoon's Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest before the visiting Falcons scored in the 71st minute to even the contest, 2-2. Despite two overtime sessions, the teams parted the field in a tie in front of an impressive crowd of over 200 fans during Family, Friends, and Alumni Weekend.   The Falcons return home with a 9-6-1 overall and 6-3-1 GNAC record and the Lasers' finished the day with an 8-3-2 overall and 5-2-2 league slate.

Albertus had taken a 1-0 lead into the intermission when Samantha Gigliotti (Wolcott, CT) tipped in the first goal for the Falcons at 27:54 set up by Meghan Loughman (Trumbull, CT) off a corner kick.

Lasell's Jordynn Frollo (Uxbridge, MA) equalized the score just 58 seconds into the second period beating Falcon goalkeeper Christina Dineson (Milford, CT).

Laser freshman Sam Peck (Woodbury, CT) pulled the home team ahead in the 68th minute scoring from six yards in front of the net.

The Lasers' edge was short lived as Danielle Figueroa (Bridgeport, CT) chipped in a cross from Sarah Boudreau (Pascoag, RI) to produce the deadlock.

The Lasers out shot Albertus 23-11, and were on frame in 13 of those chances.  Dineson finished the contest with 12 stops.  Laser net minder Elizabeth Stickley (Mashpee, MA) registered three saves in the GNAC matchup.

Lasell honored their three senior women's soccer players, Olivia Tsakiris (Killingly, CT), Allyson Bushey (Westminster, MA), and Rachel Greene (New London, CT) prior to the start of the contest.

The Lasers face Saint Joseph College of Connecticut in their next regular season contest at the Blue Jay's home field on Tuesday, October 19th.
