Lasers Pick Up First Win of Season Over Clarkson; Frollo, Harris, Clarke Named All-Tournament

Canton, NY-- Lasell's junior midfielder Jordynn Frollo (Uxbridge, MA) tallied three points, scoring the go-ahead goal and assisting on an insurance goal as the Lasers women's soccer team defeated Clarkson University, 3-1, at the Lotto Invitational Tournament at St. Lawrence University on Saturday.

With the win the Lasers finished the weekend with a 1-1 record, and tied for second place in the tournament with Geneseo College.  Host St. Lawrence University won the tournament for the third straight year.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Parrelli (Marshfield, MA) earned the victory for Lasell, turning away seven shots by the Golden Knights.  The Lasers doubled the amount of shots taken by Clarkson (22-11) and also held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Lasell took an early lead in the game when sophomore defender Courtney Callanan (Taunton, MA) headed in a cross by freshman defender Jill Greaney (Holyoke, MA) at the 26:22 mark.  Eleven minutes later, Clarkson was able to tie the game up when Katie VanDValk pushed a ball through to freshman Marissa Cook who won in a one-on-one situation against Parelli.

Frollo gave Lasell a 2-1 lead at halftime when she took a shot from outside the box which sailed in just under the crossbar with just 3:55 left in the period.

Just under eight minutes into the second frame, Frollo sent forward Jamie Harris (Lynnfield, MA) on the attack with a leading ball which led to the freshman's first collegiate goal, completing the scoring at 3-1.

Frollo, Harris, and junior defender Molly Clarke (Berlin, CT) were named to the All-Tournament team for their contributions over the weekend.

Lasell returns to action on Wednesday, September 8th at 4:00 p.m. when they host Lyndon State University on Taylor Field.
