Lasell Blasts Past Rivier

Nashua, NH-Lasell College handed Rivier College a 5-0 loss on Tuesday evening, with four Lasers scoring goals.  Junior Kaitlyn Fields (Stoneham, Mass.) scored twice in the shutout as the Lasers improve their record to 6-4-2 overall, 5-2-2 in the GNAC.

Senior co-captain Alyssa Ferreri (Southbury, Conn.) made the initial tally on the scoreboard just 15 minutes into the contest, receiving a leading pass from Jessica Taylor (Standish, ME).  Ferreri's score marked the second of the season for the forward, and her first game winner of the year.

Just six minutes later, Lasell put weight in their advantage with Fields' first goal, assisted by freshman Alexis Vumbaco (Meriden, Conn.).  Vumbaco is currently leading the Lasers in assists, with three total on the year.

Before the teams broke for halftime, freshman Katelyn Boucher (Uxbridge, Mass.) blasted her first goal of the year to further add to Lasell's total.  The visitors entered the intermission with a 3 goal edge.

Upon returning to the action in the second half, Allyson Bushey (Westminster, Mass.) made a move, scoring unassisted in the 52nd minute, followed by Fields' second tally with 63:31 on the clock.

Lasell outshot the Raiders by an incredible total of 35-9, with each team taking four corner kick attempts on the evening.

Laser goalkeepers Elizabeth Stickley (Mashpee, Mass.) and Ashley Parrelli (Marshfield, Mass.) shared time in the net for the combined shutout.  Stickley made one save in nearly 55 minutes, while Parrelli scooped up 4 attempts by the Raiders in the final 35 minutes of the contest.

Lasell travels to Pine Manor College today, October 22nd, for a make-up game against the Gators in GNAC action. The game is slated to start at 3:30 p.m.
