Cougars Upset Lasers in Double Overtime

Worcester, Mass. - The Cougars of Clark University upset Lasell's women's soccer team, 2-1, in double overtime on Tuesday Evening on Granger Field.

Even though the Cougars held a sizable 20-5 edge in shot attempts, the Lasers maintained a 1-0 advantage for 72 minutes after an early goal by striker Jordynn Frollo (Uxbridge, Mass.). Clark retaliated in the final thirty seconds of the contest to tie up the score however, and the game-winning goal was scored by Erin Peete (Clinton, Mass.) in the 102nd minute of the game in the second overtime.

Frollo was set up by freshman Emily Machado (Marshfield, Mass.) to score what looked to be the only score of the match.  Then, with 28 seconds remaining, Clark's Laura Hedden (East Greenbush, NY) made the improbable happen, controlling a loose ball in front of the Lasers' net to even the score at 89:32.

The game-finalizing tally by Peete was marked at 101:17 off a feed from Molly Meehan (Scotch Plains, NJ).  The shot scored low past Lasell's goalkeeper Elizabeth Stickley (Mashpee, Mass.).  Stickley fended off nine shots from the Clark during the course of the contest.

Lasell gets back in action on Saturday, September 19th in a home showdown with GNAC rivals Emmanuel College at 2:30 p.m. on Taylor Field.
