Lasers and Falcons Stuck in Double Overtime Deadlock

New Haven, Conn.- The Lasell College women's soccer team left Albertus Magnus College with their second GNAC tie of the season as they ended the double overtime contest in a 2-2 deadlock, on Saturday.  Jessica Taylor (Standish, ME) scored both bids for the Lasers in the conference challenge, earning four points from her first goals of the season.

Taylor scored in the 33rd minute off a through ball from freshman Alexis Vumbaco (Meriden, Conn.) who gained possession from the Falcons in order to produce the 1-0 edge before the break.

The Falcons responded 55 seconds into the second stanza as junior co-captain Jenna Ricci (North Branford, Conn.) scored off a corner kick by Sarah Boudrea (Pascoag, RI).

With the score tied for the subsequent nineteen minutes, Taylor struck once again, registering her second goal by beating Albertus' keeper Christine Oddo.  Lasell held onto the lead until with 18 minutes left in the contest, Boudreau earned a free kick from 25 yards out to force the extra periods.

Both teams got off just one shot in the final twenty minutes of double overtime.  The competition proved to be the fourth overtime contest of the season for the Lasers squad who have gone 1-1-2 in those challenges.

Lasell is now 3-2-2 overall though remains undefeated in GNAC play with a 2-0-2 record.

The Lasers will host St. Joseph's College of Connecticut on Tuesday, September 29th at 4:00 p.m. on Taylor Field.
