Lady Monks Win Home Opener Against Lasers

Senior Katie Jordan (Sandwich, MA) scored the only goal of the contest in the 12th minute to help lead the hosting Saint Joseph's (1-2, 1-0 GNAC) past conference rival Lasell College (0-2, 0-1 GNAC) on Saturday afternoon. The Monks junior, goalkeeper Katye Mayo (Fairfield, ME) made five saves to earn her first shutout of the season.

During the first half of the contest, the Lasers and Monks stayed even in shot attempts, which each side taking eight.  St. Joe's outshot the Lasers 18-12 overall though, and managed to place 13 of those shots on net versus only five shots on goal by Lasell in the contest.

Lasell's Meredith Hessler (Middletown, RI) led in shot attempts with three, including two shots on goal. Also producing numerous shots for the Lasers were junior Alyssa Ferreri (Southbury, CT) and freshman Jessica Taylor (Standish, ME) with three and two attempts respectively.

Lasell's goal keeper, Elizabeth Stickley (Scituate, MA) came up with an impressive 12 saves in the 1-0 loss for the Lasers. 

Lasell College is now 0-2 this season, and 0-1 in the GNAC.  They will host New England College on Monday, September 15th at 4:00 PM.
