WLax: Lasers Fall Short in Road Match Against Elms College

Chicopee, MA - The Lasers fell short to Elms College in a tight 20-19 battle in GNAC play on Saturday.

Lasell came out strong with three quick goals early in the first quarter with a goal from seniors Kaitlin Bedell, Teresa Kessner, and Annarita Sanfilippo.

The Blazers responded with another goal and continued to go back and forth with Lasell to finish the quarter with a 7-3 lead by the Lasers.

Heading into the second quarter, the Blazers dominated the first five minutes of the quarter firing off six unanswered goals. Lasell would take back control with five more goals and let up two more from the Blazers for a 12-11 lead to end the half.

The second half continued to be a battle between both teams with the Blazers scoring two goals early on, taking their first lead of the game. Kessner would tie the game back up within seconds on an unassisted goal. Lasell would have three more goals throughout the quarter from Sanfilippo, Bedell and Kessner, while Elms would have four more goals.

The game came down to the wire in the fourth quarter as Kessner would have three more goals for the Lasers while Elms had two goals throughout the quarter. In the last 28 seconds of the tied 19-19 game, a final shot from the Blazers would take the victory.

Up Next: The Lasers are set to play their next GNAC matchup on the road on Tuesday against Saint Joseph (Conn.) at 4:00pm.
