WLax: Lasers Downed by Raiders

Nashua, NH - The Lasell Lasers fell in a conference game on Wednesday, falling to Rivier 12-8. The Lasers are now 2-12 on the season and 2-9 in conference play. Rivier is now 4-8 and 3-8.

Rivier got out to the early lead, scoring twice in the first quarter. After they scored the first two goals of the second quarter to go up 4-0, the Lasers responded. Lasell scored three straight goals, including goals by Emily Chapdelaine and Kaitlin Bedell that came less than 10 seconds apart. The third goal came from Sam Jones. The Lasers trailed by just one at 4-3, but the Raiders would score twice more in the half to take a 6-3 lead into halftime.

The two teams traded the first four goals of the third, with the Lasers getting goals from Bedell and Teresa Kessner. Just as they had done in the second, the Raiders then ended the quarter with two unanswered goals, scoring twice in the final minute of the third. The Lasers responded with two goals to open the fourth, as Chapdelaine and Bedell continued their good games. But the Raiders once again had an answer, as they scored two goals sandwiched around another Chapdelaine goal.

Chapdelaine and Bedell each had three goals, while all nine Lasers goals came unassisted. Teresa Kessner led the team with eight groundballs, with Chapdelaine behind her with six. Chapdelaine also had five draw controls, second most on the team, one behind Bedell's six. Madison Raymond led the team with two caused turnovers.

Up Next - The Lasers will play their Senior Day game on Saturday, as they take on Dean at 12pm.
