WLax: Late Surge Not Enough as Lasers Fall to Cadets

Newton, MA - The Lasell Lasers Women's Lacrosse team fell in a GNAC battle against the Norwich Cadets by a score of 11-8 on Wednesday. The Lasers are now 2-10 on the season and 2-7 in GNAC play. The Cadets are now 6-6 and 5-4.

The Cadets scored early and often, netting six goals in the first quarter. They extended their lead to 8-0 with a pair of goals in the second before Teresa Kessner got the Lasers on the board with a free position shot goal. After another pair of Cadet goals, the Lasers closed out the half with an Annarita Sanfilippo goal, assisted by Sam Jones. That goal made it 10-2 at the half. Norwich scored the lone goal in the third quarter, and led 11-2 entering the fourth. But the Lasers did not give up, and controlled the fourth quarter, scoring six straight goals. Emily Chapdelaine scored the first, third, and fifth goals of the quarter, while Teresa Kessner scoring the second and fourth goals. Sam Jones then closed out the game with a free position shot goal with three seconds left, giving the final score of 11-8.

Lasell was led by Chapdelaine's and Kessners three goals each, while Sam Jones had the one goal with two assists. Shannon Borbee led the team with six ground balls, while Chapdelaine and Kessner each had five. Kaitlin Bedell led the team with five draw controls. Natalia Cullen led the team with two caused turnovers.

Up Next - The Lasers will return to the field on Saturday, April 15th when they travel to Regis for a 12pm game.
