WLax: Lasers Slowed Down by Rain and Blazers

Newton, MA - In rainy weather, the Lasell Lasers fell to the Elm Blazers by a final score of 20-7 on Saturday, falling to 2-7 on the season, and 2-4 in conference play. The Blazers are now 2-5 and 1-5.

After Elms scored first, the Lasers responded with a goal by Emily Chapdelaine off of a free position shot to tie things up. But the Blazers would score four goals in the next three minutes before the Lasers struck again on a free position shot, this time by Teresa Kessner, making it 5-2. The Blazers then scored four more goals in the quarter, including one in the final seconds. Elms continued their scoring in the second, scoring three more unanswered goals. The Lasers went into half by scoring a goal with just 20 seconds left off of the stick of Teresa Kessner.

The third quarter was more of the same, as the Blazers outscored the Lasers 5-1, with the Lasers goal coming from Kaitlin Bedell. Things were more even in the fourth, as each team scored three goals. The Lasers' goals came from Kessner and Bedell, with Bedell scoring two of them.

The Lasers got three goals each from Kaitlin Bedell and Teresa Kessner and one from Emily Chapdelaine. Kessner had the lone assist for the Lasers. Bedell led the team with three ground balls, while Madison Raymond had a team high four draw controls. Caroline O'Leary had a game high three caused turnovers.

Newton, MA - The Lasers will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Saint Joseph's Maine for a 5pm start.
