WLax: Lasers Defeated in Non-Conference Game

Salem, MA - The Lasell Lasers Women's Lacrosse team fell in a non-conference match against Salem State on Monday by a final score of 15-9. The Lasers are now 2-6 on the season while the Vikings are now 2-5.

It was a fast paced first quarter, as the Vikings scored 45 seconds into the game. The Lasers answered with a Kaitlin Bedell goal minutes later. After the Vikings retook the lead, the Lasers tied it back up on an Emily Chapdelaine goal assisted by Bedell. The Vikings then scored twice in 90 seconds to go up 4-2. But the Lasers responded with two goals of their own to close out the quarter, as Teresa Kessner scored both, sending the game to the second quarter tied at four. The Vikings would score four unanswered goals in the second to lead 8-4 at halftime.

After Salem State opened the scoring in the second half, the Lasers got a free position shot goals from Kessner while up a player. Bedell then scored her second goal of the game to make it 9-6. The Vikings then closed out the quarter with a goal. Salem State then scored four of the first five goals in the fourth, with the Lasers getting a goal from Emily Chapdelaine. Kessner then scored two straight goals, but Salem State would score one final goal to take the 15-9 victory.

The Lasers were led by Teresa Kessner's five goals. The other four goals came from Emily Chapdelaine and Kaitlin Bedell, each scoring two. Chapdelaine led the team with three ground balls and four caused turnovers. Bedell led the team with eight draw controls. Goalie Joy Sayah had 18 saves.
