WLax: Lasers Stumble Against JWU

Newton, MA - The Lasell Lasers Women's Lacrosse team fell on Saturday to Johnson & Wales by a final score of 19-6. The loss drops the Lasers to 2-5 on the season and 2-3 in conference play, while the Wildcats are now 4-2 and 4-0.

The Wildcats got out to a blazing start, outscoring the Lasers 9-0 in the first quarter. The Lasers broke through early in the second on a Teresa Kessner goal, and later added an Emily Chapdelaine goal. The Lasers trailed 12-2 at halftime. The Lasers opened up the third with another Chapdelaine goal, and trailed 16-3 at the end of the quarter. For the third straight quarter, the Lasers scored first in the fourth, as Kessner and Kaitlin Bedell scored in the first half of the quarter. The Lasers then scored in the last seconds of the game on Chapdelaine's third goal of the game.

Chapdelaine and Natalia Cullen led the team with four ground balls each. They each also had one caused turnover. Goalie Joy Sayah made 18 saves in the game, and now leads the GNAC with 90 saves on the season.

Up next - The Lasers will return to play on Monday, March 27th when they travel to Salem State for a 7pm game.
