Henniker, NH - The Lasell Women's Lacrosse team fell Tuesday night in a matchup against the New England College Pilgrims by a final score of 11-7. The loss drops the Lasers to 0-2 on the season, while the Pilgrims are now 1-1.
The Lasers would strike first about 10 minutes into the game when Teresa Kessner found the back of the net. NEC would respond quickly, scoring less than a minute later. But the Lasers would retake the lead right before the end of the first quarter on another Kessner goal, with this one being assisted by Kaitlin Bedell.
The Second quarter was where the Pilgrims took control, scoring twice in the first five minutes of the quarter. The Lasers would tie things up at three with an Emily Chapdelaine goal off of a free position shot with six minutes left in the half. But the Pilgrims would rattle off three more goals over the next three minutes to take a 6-3 lead. Chapdelaine would score another goal with two minutes left in the half off of a pass from Kessner, making the score 6-4 at the break.
The Pilgrims controlled the third period scoring three of the quarter's four goals, with the lone Lasell goal coming from Bedell. Each team would score twice in the fourth with Kessner and Bedell each finding the back of the net for the Lasers. Kessner's goal was assisted by Sam Jones.
It was a three headed attack on offense for the Lasers, as Chapdelaine, Bedell, and Kessner accounted for all 23 of the team's shots. Bedell also led the team with seven ground balls, with Alyson Barnes right behind her with six. Goalie Joy Sayah made 13 saves.
Up Next - The Lasers will begin conference play on Thursday, March 9th when they travel to Albertus Magnus for a 6pm game.
