WLX: McComb wins NCAA Statistics titles for goals and points per game

NEWTON, Mass. – With the completed NCAA women's lacrosse season in the books, Lasell University graduate student Jordan McComb (Cumberland, R.I./Mt. Saint Charles Academy) will go into the record book as the 2021 NCAA Division III leader in goals and points per game.

Playing in all eight of the Lasers' games this spring, McComb scored 51 goals and added 28 assists for 79 points, topping all Division III scorers with 6.38 goals and 9.88 points per game. She edged out Elizabeth Peasley of Averett University (6.00) for the top spot in the goals category and fellow Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) rival Lydia Dexter of Saint Joseph's College of Maine (7.38) in the points department.

McComb's season got off to a roaring start on March 20 when she posted a Lasell single-game record with 17 points against Norwich University. She tallied 10 goals and seven assists in the contest, both one shy of the school record. McComb went on to record back-to-back double-digit points games against Dean College (5 goals, 6 assists) and Anna Maria College (9 goals, 2 assists) and wound up the season with consecutive 6-goal playoff games vs. Norwich and Johnson & Wales University.

The GNAC Midfielder of the Year completed another outstanding season, leading the conference in goals and points and ranking second in assists. She also topped the GNAC with 42 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers and ranked second with 61 draw controls. McComb also made an additional impact on the national scene, ranking eighth with 3.5 assists per game and finishing in the top 15 nationally in draw controls, ground balls and caused turnovers per game.

The Laser standout has made a huge impact on Lasell's career record book, playing in parts of six seasons (2016-21) and ranking in the top five in six major career categories. She is fifth all-time with 226 goals, third with 291 points, fourth with 65 assists, 184 ground balls and 209 caused turnovers, and second with 98 caused turnovers.

McComb's efforts helped the Lasers finish with a 6-2 overall record under first-year head coach Al Eaton, including a 5-1 mark in GNAC play and a quarterfinal playoff victory over Norwich University.
