GNAC: McComb continues to haul in weekly conference honors

NEWTON, Mass. – The leading scorer on the Lasell University women's lacrosse team continued to haul in weekly honors from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Monday for another outstanding week for the Lasers last week.

Graduate student Jordan McComb (Narragansett, R.I./Mount St. Charles Academy) repeated as GNAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week, the fourth time in five weeks this spring and sixth time in her career that McComb has been recognized with the GNAC's top weekly honor.

A three-time All-GNAC midfielder, McComb continued to fill up the stat sheet in a 2-0 week for Lasell, despite playing limited time due to lopsided Laser victories. She collected 14 goals and six assists for 20 points for the offense while adding 14 draw controls and 12 ground balls. She tallied nine goals and two assists with 10 draw controls and six ground balls in a 17-4 win at Anna Maria, and she notched five goals and four assists with four draw controls and six ground balls in a 20-1 victory over Dean.

McComb leads the GNAC this spring with 39 goals and 62 points and ranks second with 23 assists. She also tops the conference with 47 draw controls and 31 ground balls and ranks second with 14 caused turnovers.

The Laser standout has also made an impact on the national level, ranking among the NCAA Division III leaders in per game categories. In the most recent rankings, McComb leads the nation in goals per game (6.80) and points per game (10.60) and ranks sixth in assists (3.80), 11th in draw controls (8.60), and 16th in ground balls per game (5.00).

Lasell, 5-1 overall and in the GNAC, wraps up the regular season this Wednesday, April 21, with a conference home game against Dean College at 4 p.m. The GNAC playoffs begin this Saturday, April 24, with first-round pairings to be announced on Thursday. The tournament champion will be crowned on Saturday, May 1, and will receive an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.
