Lasell Women's Lacrosse downs Regis

NEWTON, Mass. – Junior Jordan McComb (Cumberland, R.I.) and senior Taylor Yandow (Moretown, Vt.) scored five goals apiece Tuesday afternoon as Lasell College defeated Regis College, 14-4, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse game at rainy Grellier Field.

McComb collected a game-high six points with five goals and an assist, while Yandow was good for five goals and seven draw controls to pace the Lasers. With the win, Lasell improves to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the GNAC.

Freshman Rachel Nadeau (Coventry, Conn.) tallied a goal and an assist to lead Regis, but the Pride dropped to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Lasell won 16 of the game's 20 draws, and outshot the visitors 30-12. Laser sophomore Morgan Choquet (Woonsocket, R.I.) made six saves to earn the victory in goal, while senior Maresa Malcolm (Barrington, N.J.) also made six saves for Regis.

Yandow and McComb each scored for Lasell in the first three minutes of the game to stake the Lasers to an early lead. After junior Malorie Kiehl (Burlington, Mass.) put Regis on the board, Lasell tallied six consecutive goals over the next 20 minutes, including three in a row by Yandow, to open up an 8-1 margin. Sophomore Kerri Anselmo (Natick, Mass.) scored for Regis with just 20 seconds on the clock to make it an 8-2 score at the intermission.

Lasell potted the first three goals of the second half to extend the margin to 11-2. Nadeau got one back for Regis, but McComb scored the next two for Lasell to open up a double-digit lead (13-3) with 14 minutes remaining. The teams traded goals in the final four minutes for the 14-4 final.

The Lasers will play a non-conference game Thursday, April 5, at Elms College in Chicopee, Mass. (7:00 p.m.) and will host Simmons College on Saturday, April 7, on Senior Day at Grellier Field (noon). Regis plays a non-conference game Thursday at Curry College before hosting Emmanuel in a GNAC affair on Saturday at noon.
