PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Lasell College women's lacrosse team had a three-game winning streak snapped Tuesday evening with an 18-7 loss to Johnson & Wales University in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex.

The host Wildcats, which captured the GNAC championship a year ago, improves to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play with their fifth straight victory, while Lasell drops to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the GNAC.

JWU used a balanced scoring attack, as six players scored at least two goals each, led by Dani Lydecker and Allison Pazienski with four goals each. Lydecker also collected a team-high six draw controls.

The Lasers were led by senior Taylor Yandow (Moretown, Vt.) and junior Jordan McComb (Cumberland, R.I.), who scored three goals each, with Yandow grabbing six draw controls. Junior Vanessa Pino (Methuen, Mass.) also scored once for the visitors.

Johnson & Wales wasted no time in taking the lead as Maria Patane scored just 11 seconds into the game.  The Wildcats established a 5-0 lead at the 23:54 mark on three-straight Lydecker goals. The Lasers got back two goals by McComb and Pino, but JWU finished the half on a 4-1 run to take an 11-3 advantage into the locker room.

The Wildcats scored the first five goals of the second half to open a 16-3 margin. Johnson & Wales controlled the tempo by winning 16 of 26 draw controls and collecting 21 ground balls, compared to 16 by Lasell.

JWU goalie Cassidy O'Hara made a season-high 13 saves for JWU. Sophomore goalie Morgan Choquet (Woonsocket, R.I.) made eight saves for Lasell.

Lasell looks to get back on the winning track Saturday with a GNAC match-up at Mount Ida College (noon).  Johnson & Wales is on the road Saturday to take on Saint Joseph's at noon.
