Women's Lacrosse Surges Past Norwich 16-1

NEWTON, Mass. (4/12/17) – Sophomore Vanessa Pino (Methuen, Mass.) and junior Taylor Yandow (Moretown, Vt.) combined for 11 goals to lead the Lasell women's lacrosse team over Norwich University, 16-1, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Wednesday afternoon at Grellier Field.

Lasell improves to 4-1  in the GNAC and 7-4 overall, while the Cadets sink to 1-3 in the conference and 5-5 this season.

Pino and Yandow contributed eight and seven points, respectively, while Yandow grabbed a game-high six draw controls. Pino, named GNAC player of the week on Monday, scored six goals with two assists, and won three draws. Yandow scored five goals with a pair of assists in the win.

Sophomore Jillian Vergados (Tyngsboro, Mass.) rounded out the multi-scoring performances with two goals, while Amanda Brock (North Haven, Conn.), Taylor Falco (Hazlet, N.J.), and Jorgia Bergin (Sandwich, Mass.) accounted for the offensive remainder with a single goal apiece. Falco and Bergin's markers were the first of their collegiate careers.

Cadets junior Teresa Segreti (Salisbury Mills, N.Y.) got Norwich on the board for the first and only time with 23:08 left in regulation with her ninth goal of the season.  

Senior Bridget Delaney (Weymouth, Mass.) backstopped the Lasers to a scoreless first half, moving to 7-3 overall with six saves in the process. Fellow senior Brooke Bergeron (Lynn, Mass.) made six saves in second half relief.

Lawson Hayes (Moorestown, N.J.) stopped six shots in the cage for the Cadets, and drops to 2-3 during her rookie campaign.

The Lasers will return to play next Wednesday, April 19 when they travel to Portland, Maine to face the Monks of Saint Joseph's at 8:00 p.m. The Cadets are on the road again for the next contest, a 1:00 p.m. matchup against St. Joseph's Connecticut on Saturday, April 15.
