(WENHAM, Mass.) (3/21/17) – The Lasell College women's lacrosse team closed the first half on a four-goal run and 10-7 advantage against Gordon College at halftime, but fell to a second-half surge from the Fighting Scots, 14-13, on Tuesday evening at Brigham field. Lasell dips to 3-3, while Gordon kicks a two-game skid and jumps over .500 at 4-3.

Out of halftime, the Fighting Scots outscored the Lasers 7-3 in the final 30 minutes of action to take the one-goal victory, in part to Caroline Walton's three-goal performance in the stretch.

Junior Taylor Yandow (Moretown, Vt.) recorded her fourth hat trick over six games with five goals, while Vanessa Pino (Methuen, Mass.) finished with four. Yandow grabbed six draw controls, bringing her season total to 41, with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Pino won the opening draw to get the non-conference contest started, and set up freshman Brooke Landry (New Milford, Conn.) for her third goal of the season. Gordon was quick to answer just 20 seconds later, bookended by Pino's first goal to knot the game at 2-2 with just over three minutes expired on the clock. Walton then started the first of two offensive charges for the Fighting Scots, holding the Lasers to two goals while adding three of their own. Lasell quickly switched gears and closed the first half on a 4-0 run to take the lead 10-7, off the sticks of Pino, Yandow, and Jillian Vergados (Tyngsboro, Mass.).

In the second half, Gordon kept Lasell at bay and surrendered just three goals, as keeper Anastasia Landman stopped seven of the Lasers' closing nine shots on net. Samantha Taylor (Hanover, Mass.) had a promising chance to deadlock the game with 1:55 to go, but was denied the opportunity off the pipe of the Fighting Scots for the 14-13 final. Taylor finished the day with a goal and an assist in the effort.

Senior Bridget Delaney (Weymouth, Mass.) recorded seven stops in the full 60 minutes, while Landman earned her first win of the season, also with seven saves.

The Lasers return to Newton, Mass. on Saturday for a crucial conference battle against the Saints of Emmanuel College, with draw control set for 12:00 p.m.
