NEWTON, Mass. (4/2/16) – Eleven different players scored goals for Lasell College, who handed Mount Ida College an 18-6 defeat in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse action  on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. Lasell improves to 2-0 in the conference and 6-3 overall, while Mount Ida evens out at 1-1 in the GNAC and drops to 2-7 this season.

Jordan McComb (Cumberland, R.I.) had a hat trick to lead the Lasers, who opened up the game with a 6-1 run and never looked back, increasing their advantage to eight goals by halftime and double-digits in the second half, when they ended the game with five unanswered goals.

Alyssa Kelly (Lee, Mass.) took a game-high 11 shots and piled up a four-point day with two goals and two assists, while Nicole Pavao (Peabody, Mass.) also scored twice for the Mustangs.

Kelly pulled the Mustangs to within a goal at 2-1, and the teams stayed that way for nearly ten minutes, but Taylor Yandow (Moretown, Vt.) got on the board at 15:41 and within three minutes, Riley Musial (Clinton, Conn.), Bridget Doherty (Franklin, Mass.), and Bridget Munnelly (Bellingham, Mass.) also scored a marker for the Lasers.

Sam Basler (Plymouth, Mass.) and Hayley Napier (Fairhaven, Mass.) eventually added the other goals for Mount Ida, with Napier recording an assist as well and Basler leading the team with five draw controls.

Pavao scored at 27:07 of the second half and Mount Ida scored three of the first five goals to cut the deficit to 13-6, but Ashlee Pechulis (Westfield, Mass.) scored her second goal of the game at 19:53 and Musial and McComb scored again before Jillian Vergados (Tyngsboro, Mass.) netted her second and third goals of the year in the final 11:04.

Alejandra Lopez (Metepec, Mexico) had four ground balls and two caused turnovers for the Mustangs, while Lasell's Lisi Anczok (Buffalo, N.Y.) scored a goal and added four ground balls and three caused turnovers herself.

Lasell outshot the Mustangs 41-23 and had a 17-9 edge in draw controls, led by the six draws from Bridget Munnelly (Bellingham, Mass.). They also went 4-5 in free-position attempts, while the Mustangs could not convert on any of their four free-position shots.

Freshman Jackie Tarsook (Derry, N.H.) made nine saves between the pipes, while Brooke Bergeron (Swampscott, Mass.) and Bridget Delaney (Weymouth, Mass.) gave up just three goals each in a half of play and combined for eight saves for Lasell.

Both teams return to GNAC action on Tuesday, April 5 at 6:00 pm. The Lasers will head to Emmanuel College, while Mount Ida continues their home slate with Simmons College.
