Women's Lacrosse Soars Over Nichols 21-10

DUDLEY, Mass. – the Lasell College women's lacrosse team defeated Nichols College 21-10 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Vendetti Field.

The Lasers (6-4) were led by junior Ashlee Pechulis (Westfield, Mass.) with eight points including a season-high six goals. Freshman Danielle Chambrelli (Cheshire, Conn.) notched a career-high five goals while juniors Bridget Doherty (Franklin, Mass.) and Bridget Munnelly (Bellingham, Mass.) provided four points apiece (3-1-4).

Sophomore Brooke Marion (South Hadley, Mass.) and senior Grace Murphy (Montclair, Va.) each had three points in the win for the Bison (2-7). Senior Alyssa Bufis (Linden, N.J.) scored two goals  while junior Meghan Dombkowski (Sagaponack, N.Y.) chipped in with two goals and freshman Lindsay O'Connell (Danvers, Mass.) had two points (1-1-2).

The Bison trailed 12-5 at the end of the first half despite outshooting the Lasers 17-15. Lasell jumped out to an early 10-2 lead before the Bison closed the half with three of the last five goals, including two by Marion.

The Bison closed the gap to six goals just 29 seconds into the second half with a goal by Murphy, however Nichols couldn't close the gap any further than that as Chambrelli scored three of her five goals in the second half to close the door on the Bison.

Sophomore Katherine Cotton (Kennebunk, Maine) stopped just two shots and falls to 2-7 on the year. Senior Alexa Katsigianis (Amherst, N.H.) made nine saves and improves to 6-4 this season.

The Lasers host Emmanuel (Mass.) on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.  while the Bison travel to take on conference foe Wentworth on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
