MIT Downs Lasell in Women's Lacrosse Action

Cambridge, Mass. (3/14/13) - The Lasell College women's lacrosse team were tripped up in non-conference road action, losing 15-8 to the Engineers of MIT. The win moved MIT to 1-2 on the season, while Lasell slid to 2-2 overall. 

Lasell's Britney Wuorio (Bolton, Mass.) scored a pair of goals and handed out three assists, while grabbing a game-high six draw controls. Ashley Slattery (Weymouth, Mass.) and Caitlyn Brecher (Cheshire, Conn.) each netted a pair of goals for the Lasers with Slattery scooping up a team-high six groundballs.

Meghan Wright (Devoon, Pa.) paced the victors with seven points, on five goals and two assists while also collecting seven groundballs and Laura Wacker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) tallied five goals as well. Nadia Wallace (Rochester, N.Y.) and Isabella DiDio (Jenkintown, Pa.) each scored a pair of goals to contribute to the winning effort.

Sammy Long (Staten Island, N.Y.) saved 11 shots for Lasell while falling to 2-2 on the season, while Paige Kennedy (Eastchester, N.Y.) earned the victory in net for MIT while stopping 11 shots as well.

MIT jumped out to an early lead, putting together three straight goals before Lisi Anczok (Buffalo, N.Y.) got Lasell on the board with her first career goal. Following Anczok's finish, the Engineers ripped off another three goal run, going on top 6-1 with 11:27 left in the half.

Lasell closed the half with three unanswered goals, drawing within 6-4 at the intermission. MIT tallied a pair of goals 20 seconds apart early in the second half to pull ahead 8-4, before a Slattery goal pulled Lasell back within three at 8-5 with just under five minutes gone in the second half.

The Lasers couldn't keep the MIT offense under wraps, watching the hosts close the game out by scoring seven og te game's final 10 goals to finish off the game.

Lasell will be back in action on Saturday March 16th when they visit Anna Maria College in their Great Northeast Athletic Conference opener.
