Wellesley, Mass. (3/10/13) - The Lasell College women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference game at Wellesley College on Sunday afternoon, falling 14-7 to the Blue. The loss moves Lasell to 1-1 on the season, while Wellesley now stands at 3-1 overall.

Ashley Slattery (Weymouth, Mass.) scored three times for the Lasers, while adding an assist and seven draw controls. Britney Wuorio (Bolton, Mass.) finished with a pair of assists for Lasell, while Caitlyn Brecher (Cheshire, Conn.), Ashlee Pechulis (westfield, Mass.), Rebecca Stanton (Agawam, Mass.) and Bridget Doherty (Franklin, Mass.) each tallied goals for Lasell.

Claire Canty (East Rockaway, N.Y.) finished with career-highs in goals with six and assists with four to help lead the Wellesley attack. Meredith Roy (Merrimack, N.H.) added three goals and an assists in the winning effort.

Freshmen Sammy Long (Staten Island, N.Y.) made a pair of saves while taking the loss in goal for Lasell, and Tya Logan (Hillsboro, N.H.) stopped nine of the 16 shots she faced to earn the win for the Blue.

Wellesley scored the first eight goals of the game, taking an 8-0 lead with twelve minutes remaining in the opening half. Ashley Slattery and Caitlyn Brecher each scored to trim the hosts lead to 8-2 with just over nine minutes to play. A pair of goals by Wellesley sandwiched a goal by Lasell's Pechulis, sending the Lasers into the half trailing 10-3.

Wellesley opened the seoncd half with a goal to push their lead to 11-3, but Lasell scored three of the next four goals to cut the spread to 12-6 with 14:30 remaining. Following a goal by Wellesley, Rebecca Stanton found the back of the net with a free position shot, bringing Lasell back with six at 13-7. The Lasers would get no closer, Meredith Roy tallied her third goal of the afternoon for the Blue at the 8:33 mark, and the hosts held on for the 14-7 victory.

Wellesley is back in action on Wednesday, March 13th, playing at Emerson at 6:00pm. Lasell next plays Tuesday, March 12th, traveling to Nichols for a 4:00pm start.
