Women's Lacrosse Wins 9th Straight, Defeating Emerson 20-5

Boston, MA – The Lasell College women's lacrosse team scored the first 13 goals of the day, and coasted to a 20-5 victory over the Lions of Emerson College. The Lasers improved to 5-0 in the GNAC and 9-1 on the season, while the Lions fell to 3-2 in GNAC play and 3-3 overall.

Britney Wuorio (Bolton, MA) finished with four goals and six assists to lead the way for Lasell, while Ashley Slattery (Weymouth, MA) and Bridget Ryan (Chatham, NJ) each tallied four goals and two assists. Caitlyn Brecher (Cheshire, CT) added three goals for Lasell, Erin Gertonson (Bayport, NY) and Rebecca Stanton (Agawam, MA) each netted a pair of goals as well.

Mackenzie Johnson (Pasadena, MD) led Emerson with a pair of goals and an assist on the afternoon.

Rebecca Stanton opened the scoring for Lasell fifteen seconds into the game, and the Lasers never trailed the rest of the way. Slattery and Brecher each tallied a hat-trick in the first half as the Lasers scored the first thirteen goals of the game. Johnson got Emerson on the board, when she found an opening and beat Lasers' goalkeeper Alexa Katsigianis (Amherst, NH) with one second remaining in the half.

The Lasers extended their lead to 15-1 in the first eight minutes of the second half, on goals from Wuorio and Ryan. The two squads exchanged goals over the final 22 minutes of play leading to the 20-5 final margin.

Katsigianis earned the win in goal for Lasell saving nine of the 14 balls on frame, while Emily Saeger was credited with the loss for Emerson.

Lasell will return to action on Thursday, April 5th when they host Nichols College for a 4pm game at Grellier Field.
