Slattery Dubbed GNAC Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Year

Ashley Slattery (Weymouth, MA) has been selected as the 2010 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Year.

 

Slattery was bestowed with this honor after an amazing season with the Lasers, during which time the freshman midfielder finished first on the team in assists, ground balls, draw controls, and caused turnovers, and third on the team in goals and total points.  The freshman midfielder scored a total of 43 goals and added 12 assists for 55 total points. She also collected 69 ground balls, 72 draw controls, and 24 caused turnovers.  

 

Slattery also broke three Lasell College women’s lacrosse records for draw controls in a game (11), ground balls in a season (69), and draw controls in a season (72), all in her first year with the Blue & White.  The freshman is on track to break numerous additional records in the years to come.

 

Over the course of the season, Slattery was recognized by the GNAC twice as the Rookie of the Week, and also received national recognition from womenslacrosse.com as a Division III Weekly Honor Roll recipient.   She is ranked nationally amongst all NCAA Division III women’s lacrosse players in eight categories (points, points per game, goals per game, assists, caused turnovers, draw controls, ground balls, and goals), and is ranked in the top 25 in two of those categories (draw controls, ground balls).    Slattery is ranked 18th nationally in draw controls per game (4.5) and 24th in ground balls (4.3).  In the GNAC, Slattery is ranked 2nd in draw controls and 10th in goals per game (2.60) and assists per game (.73).

 

In addition to being the Rookie of the Year, Slattery also recieved a spot on the Second Team All-Conference.
