Slattery, Ward Combine for 11 Goals in 13-8 Win Over Saint Joseph (CT)

West Hartford, CT-- Ashley Slattery (Weymouth, MA) and Andrea Ward (Hingham, MA) combined for 11 of the Lasell College women's lacrosse team's 13 total goals in a 13-8 defeat of Saint Joseph College of Connecticut on Sunday afternoon.  The win in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest brought Lasell to an 8-7 overall record, and a 4-3 conference slate, with one game left to play in the regular season.

Slattery scored six goals and Ward notched five goals, adding three assists for a game-high eight points. Ward added another game-high of four draw controls while Slattery collected a game-best 11 ground balls and chipped in by winning three draw controls.

Freshman Kate-Lyn Eadie (Ashland, MA) scored her first collegiate goal against the Blue Jays, taking a feed from Ward with 6:35 left to go in the second half.  Junior April McGrath (Willow Grove, PA) also aided to the Lasers victory with a score in the first half. 

Riley Fickett (Nottingham, NH) picked up six ground balls for Lasell and freshman Lawren Wigmore (Scituate, MA) assisted on Ward’s first goal at 14:33 in the first half.

Lasell fell behind 5-0 over the first 15 minutes of the contest before Slattery broke through the Lasers stalemate.  A five-goal run ensued, to tie the score with ten minutes left in the first half.  By halftime, Lasell had gained a one goal lead (8-7) as Ward scored with one tick left on the clock before the break.

Ward scored twice more to open the second half, including the game-winner just four minutes into the second stanza.  Saint Joseph’s would score just once in the second half.

Rookie goalkeeper Lindsay Cahoon (Falmouth, MA) made 17 saves in sixty minutes between the pipes, improving her overall season record to 4-3.

Lasell will play in their final regular season game on Monday, April 19th at Norwich University at 4:30 p.m.
