Newton, MA - The Lasell Women's Basketball team continued their historic season on Thursday, defeating the Colby-Sawyer Chargers by a final score of 81-64. With the win the Lasers are now 14-6 on the season and 8-2 in GNAC play. The Chargers are now 6-14 and 3-6. With the win the 2023-24 team joins the 2001-02 (19-8) and 2005-06 (15-12) teams as the only teams in program history to have a winning season.

It was a close first half, as both teams scored at will. A 7-0 run by Lasel late in the first gave them a lead, and they led 19-14 at the intermission. The second quarter was no different, as the Lasers grew their lead to as many as 13. before settling for an eight point lead of 42-34 at the break.

As has been the story all season for the Lasers, it proved to be one quarter that made the difference, with this game's quarter being the third. The Lasers outscored the Chargers 24-15, using a 10-1 run to end the quarter with a 17 point lead. The fourth quarter was just a formality, as the Lasers cruised to an 81-64 win.

It was a two-headed attack from the Lasers as they had two 20 point scorers in Kiara Cerruti (21) and Shirle Major (20). The only other double-digit scorer was Hailey Johnson, who scored a career high 10 points. Both Brooke Damboise and Laura Johnson were just below that at nine and eight points each. Johnson also was her usual self on the boards, grabbing 13. She currently ranks 15th in the country with 12.1 per game. Major was also a force on the defensive end, collecting six steals. Right behind her was Mia Sullivan-Sanders who had five steals.

Up next - The Lasers travel to take on the first place Saint joseph's (ME) Monks at 1pm on Saturday.
