Newton, MA - The Lasell Women's Basketball team stayed hot on Saturday, defeating Regis 73-61 to win their program record sixth consecutive game. With the win, the Lasers are now 12-6 overall, and 6-2 in GNAC play. The Pride are now 6-13 and 4-4. With the six GNAC wins, the Lasers trail only the 2021-22 team for most GNAC wins in school history. That team won seven conference games. The 12 wins on the season match the 2015-16 squad for most wins since the 2006-07 season.

It was a very even first quarter, as neither team ever led by more than three. The quarter featured numerous ties and lead changes, and saw the Lasers hold a 14-13 lead at the end of it. The second quarter was the polar opposite, as the Lasers dominated it, outscoring the Pride 24-16. The key to it was an early 9-0 run that gave the Lasers a lead, one they would not give up. Another 8-0 run would further build their lead and confidence going into halftime, as they led 38-29. The Lasers built their lead up to 18 early in the third, but the Pride would slowly chip away at it throughout the rest of the quarter, and would trail by the same nine point deficet they began the quarter with. The Pride would cut it down even further in the fourth, getting within five at 58-53. But the Lasers remained composed, and responded with an 11-0 run, all of which came from Kiara Cerruti, as she hit three three pointers and a jump shot over a two minute span. This was the cushion the Lasers needed, and would allow them to cruise to a 73-61 victory.

The Lasers were led by Shirle Major on offense, as the sophomore scored 22 points, with 15 coming in the first half. Behind her was Kiara Cerruti with 17, 13 of which came in the fourth. Laura Johnson and Brooke Damboise each scored nine, while Johnson also led the team with 12 rebounds. Jasmine DePina grabbed nine rebounds off the bench. DePina and Mia Sullivan-Sanders each had four steals, while Major and Blaize Mack each had three.

Up Next - The Lasers will look to continue their winning ways when they host JWU on Tuesday at 5:30pm.
