Wellesley, MA – The Lasell Women's Basketball team fell to Wellesley on Tuesday by a final score of 68-64. The Lasers are now 4-4 on the season, while the Blue are now 5-3.

It was a very tight first half, as both teams shot the ball well. The Blue got out to an early 15-8 lead in the first quarter, but a 6-0 run by the Lasers closed the gap to 15-14 at the end of the period. After tying things up at 20 midway through the second, the Lasers took a brief 22-20 lead, their only of the half. The teams traded baskets the remainder of the half, with Wellesley holding a 27-26 lead at the break.

The Lasers opened the second half on a 6-2 run to take a 32-29 lead, but after the teams traded the lead a couple times, the Blues would take control with an 8-0 run. They would lead 49-42 after three quarters. The Blue continued to push their lead in the fourth, going up by as many as 17 with just three minutes remaining. But the resiliency of the Lasers showed, as they went on a 12-0 run, cutting the lead to five with 20 seconds remaining. It proved to be too little, too late, as the Blue took the 68-64 win.

It was a balanced attack for the Lasers, as they had four double-digit scorers, led by Shirle Major's 14. Also scoring in double-digits was Kiara Cerruti (13), Laura Johnson (11), and Brooke Damboise (10). Just behind them was Erica Lendall, who scored eight off the bench. Lasell also dominated the glass, out rebounding the blue 53-29. This effort was headed by Johnson who had 11 rebounds. Every member of the starting five had at least five rebounds with Blaize Mack (8), Damboise (7), Major (6), and Cerruti (5) all contributing. Mia Sullivan-Sanders also had eight. Mack, Johnson, Major, and Sullivan Sanders each had four offensive rebounds.

Up Next -  The Lasers will play their last game of the semester on Saturday when they travel to Fitchburg State for a 12pm game.
