Waterville, ME - The Lasell University Lasers defeated the Thomas (ME) Terriers by a final score of 66-58 on Monday. The Lasers are now 3-3 on the season while the Terriers are 2-5.

The Terriers got out to an early 10-6 lead, and the two teams would trade baskets the rest of the first quarter, with Thomas holding an 18-14 lead at the end of it. They would go up by six at 23-17, but a quick 6-0 run from the Lasers erased the deficit. After the Terriers retook a four point lead with two minutes left in the half, the Lasers called a timeout to regroup. After an immediate basket out of the timeout, the Lasers would tie things up on a Kiara Cerruti jump shot, sending the game into halftime tied at 29.

A Laura Johnson layup a minute into the third quarter gave the Lasers their first lead since 3-0, but a three pointer from Thomas gave them the lead back quickly. The two teams would go back and forth the rest of the quarter, with the largest lead being five by the Terriers. The Lasers would hold a 43-40 lead at the end of the quarter though, with Erica Lendall hitting a jump shot with just second left. The fourth began with a long drough, with neither team scoring in the first two minutes. But the two teams would once again go back and forth with baskets. The key sequence in the game came when Kiara Cerruti hit a pair of three pointers in a three possesion stretch, giving the Lasers a 55-48 lead, their largest of the game to that point. The Lasers were able to cement the win by going 7-9 from the free throw line over the final two minutes, winning the game 66-58.

The Lasers were led by Kiara Cerruti's double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds, both team highs.
