Lasell Falls to Framingham State 59-46

NEWTON, Mass. --  The Lasell College women's basketball team couldn't overcome Framingham State's upstart offensive, falling 59-46 Tuesday evening at the Athletic Center.  The loss marks the first of the season for the Lasers who now sit at 2-1 on the year.

Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week Morgan Church (New London, N.H.) chipped in a team-high 12 points along with 11 rebounds and two assists.

Meghan Carroll (Douglas, Mass.) and Brianna Hoffman (Milford, N.H.) each contributed seven points in the non-conference loss. Carroll added five rebounds and two assists while Hoffman added one rebound.  Dana Ross (East Haven, Conn.) dominated on the glass with a game-high 16 rebounds. Ross and the Lasers outrebounded the Rams 48-41.

Framingham State's Mary Kate O'Day (Berlin, Mass.) scored a game-high 24 points, while adding six rebounds and three assists in the victory. Tiphani Harris (Revere, Mass.) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds to accompany her seven points.

Despite keeping the game close in the first half, Lasell was unable to take the lead. After falling to a quick 6-0 deficit Hoffman knocked-down her second straight three-pointer to tie the game at 6-6 with 6:44 remaining in the first quarter.  The Lasers struggled offensively in the second half and went into the break trailing 30-16.  Lasell outscored Framingham State 20-19 in the third quartrer and they matched the Rams for scoring in the fourth, but the women could not overcome the early deficit, falling 59-46.

Lasell opens up conference play on Wednesday, November 29th against Suffolk with a 7:00p.m. Tip-Off. Framingham State also returns to action on Wednesday at 6:00p.m. as they host Newbury College.
