Late Push Sends Cadets over Women's Hoops 49-40

NORTHFIELD, Vt. (1/28/17) – Despite seven drained three's in the first half, the Lasell women's basketball team fell to a late run by the Norwich Cadets, 49-40, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Saturday afternoon at Andrews Hall. The Lasers suffer their 9th conference loss at 2-9 and dip to 5-13 this season, while the Cadets extend their win streak to three, and jump to 7-4 in the GNAC, and 12-7 overall.

With just over five minutes remaining in regulation, the Lasers trailed by a single point, 41-40, before the Cadets ran with an 8-0 charge steered solely by Heather LeBlanc (Sanford, Maine) for the final score.

Liz Bougie (Sanford, Maine) connected on all four field goals from behind the arc, and registered 12 points overall with three blocks and four rebounds. Morgan Church (New London, N.H.) went 4-for-10 from the floor and 2-for-2 at the line for 12 points as well to round out double digit scoring for the Lasers. Defensively, Church led all Lasers with eight boards, while freshman Dana Ross (East Haven, Conn.) pulled down five.

LeBlanc earned her third straight double-double with a game-high 21 points and 12 boards, going 10-for-15 from the floor. Arianna Harrison (Vernon, Vt.) recorded 10 rebounds, adding to the Cadets' 47-23 advantage on the glass, and additionally scored six points in the winning effort.

The Lasers return to their home court on Tuesday, January 31 for a non-conference 7:00 p.m. tip-off with Fitchburg State University. The Cadets will travel down to Boston, Mass. on Thursday, February 2, to take on the Saints of Emmanuel College at 7:00 p.m.
