Stopera Caps Career with GNAC Second Team Selection

NEWTON, Mass. (2/29/16) – Lasell women's basketball senior guard Katie Stopera (Hollis, N.H.) earned Great Northeast Athletic (GNAC) Second Team honors as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Stopera finished the 2015-16 season with 479 points, her highest shooting total in her three-year stint as a Laser. On December 12, Stopera became the fifth women's basketball player to hit the 1,000 point milestone with a game-high 21 points in a 64-33 victory over Mount Holyoke College.

Following Stopera's pivotal landmark, she capped the regular season with yet another major accomplishment in a fitting senior day victory over Saint Joseph's Conn. In the 77-58 win, Stopera dropped a game-high 30 points to become the program's all-time leading scorer with 50 seconds remaining in the contest. She pushed her career-total to 1,265 points following an 18 point finish in the Lasers' season finale at Johnson and Wales. At the season's conclusion, Stopera ranked first among conference stat leaders in averaged points per game with 18.4.

Senior guard Deanna Barrett (Berlin, Conn.) represented Lasell on the all-sportsmanship team as a fundamental four-year member of the program. Barrett finished her career as a Laser with 572 points and 210 rebounds in 1,698 minutes played.
