Women's Basketball Downs Emerson 61-56

BOSTON, Mass -  The Lasell College women's basketball team posted a 61-56 victory at Emerson College on Thursday evening. Lasell rises to 6-4 overall while the loss drops the Lions to 3-5 this season.

  • Leading for the Lions was Sierra Ducey with 14 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots. Charlie Boyle followed up with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 blocked shot. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Lasell opened the game with a quick two points from Church, but the Lions quickly responded with a 3 pointer from Emily Cameron to take the lead. Both teams battled back and forth as the lead changed several times, but the Lions were able to end the first quarter with a slight lead of 15-11.
  • In the second quarter Church was able to tie it up for the Lasers, igniting their offense as Stopera hit a 3 pointer to retake the lead for Lasell. Emerson just couldn't get anything going on offense as Lasell extended their lead 30-23 going into halftime.
  • The second half saw a re-energized Lions offense as they closed the gap 32-29, but they were unable to regain the lead over Lasell. The Lasers closed out the game in the final seconds as Church made 4 free throws, final score 61-56.

WHAT'S NEXT

  • Lasell travels to Mount Holyoke for their next game on Saturday, Dec 12th at 1:00pm.The Lions return to action on Dec 19th when they travel to West Point to face Army for a 1:00pm tip off.
