HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Lawrence opened the fourth quarter with a three-pointer from the right wing and junior Savannah Miller (Smithtown, N.Y.) gave PSU its largest lead of the game, 49-42, after hitting a layup with 6:45 left to play.  Stopera connected from inside to cut the Panthers lead to 49-48 with 4:09 left, then Barrett gave the Lasers the lead after grabbing an offensive rebound and hitting the put-back with 2:10 remaining.
  • Wyland hit a tough turnaround jumper in the paint, but Barrett connected on two free throws to put Lasell up 52-51 with 50 seconds left.  On the ensuing possession, Wyland used a nifty spin-move to get to the hoop and put the hosts back on top, 53-52, with 34 seconds to play, but Barrett swished the corner three and a pair of Stopera free throws closed out the 57-53.
  • PSU opened the final quarter nursing a 44-42 lead thanks to an 11-0 run over the final three minutes of the third.  Trailing 42-33, Perry drilled a straight on three.  Lawrence followed with a long-ball of her own, this one from the left corner, and then threaded a pretty pass to Wyland, who hit a turnaround jumper to cut the Lasell lead to 42-41 with 40 seconds left in the frame.  On the ensuing Laser possession, Wyland came up with a steal which led to a deep triple from Perry just before the buzzer, giving Plymouth State its first lead since midway through the first quarter.
