NEWTON, Mass. (11/14-14) – The Lasell College women's basketball team was tabbed 8th by the coaches of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference in the annual preseason poll. The Lasers finished with a record of 12-14 last season, falling to the No. 2 seeded Monks of Saint Joseph's (Maine) in GNAC Quarterfinal action.
The Lasers are returning eight veterans with five incoming players. The loss of Kayla Vincelette will be challenging for the team, but they hope to bounce back with fresh philosophies and a new coaching staff.
Head coach Todd Montana is entering his first season as the women's basketball coach, after being the Director of Sports Information at Lasell for two years. Assistant Ashley Finnegan joins Montana in her third season with the Lasers.
Emmanuel College was picked first in the polls, receiving nine first place votes. Saint Joseph's (Maine) was tabbed second, and Suffolk University followed in third.
The women's basketball team will open their season with NESCAC opponent Colby College on Sunday, November 16th at 3:00 PM.
