Todd Montana Named Head Women's Basketball Coach

NEWTON, Mass. (8/29/2014) – Lasell College has named Todd Montana as the new women's basketball coach prior to the 2014-15 season. Montana has been working as the Sports Information Director at Lasell since January of 2012 and helped with the women's team the last two years on a volunteer basis.

"I am happy to have Todd Montana transition into his new role as the Head Women's Basketball Coach.  He has worked with the team over the past two years, so there will not be much of a transition period." said Director of Athletics Kristy Walter. "With his work ethic, knowledge of Lasell College and passion for basketball, I am anticipating exciting seasons ahead."

A ten-year veteran of the profession, Montana was a men's basketball assistant at NCAA Division III Union College from 2001-2003 before moving to NCAA Division II LeMoyne College from 2003-2005 in the same role.

Montana is pleased to be making the move, "I'm very excited to be taking over the women's basketball program at Lasell College, and I look forward to returning to the profession that has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember."

In 2005 Montana was named the head men's basketball coach at Green Mountain College in Vermont where he served in that capacity for six years. At Green Mountain he helped rebuild a program that was transitioning from the NAIA to NCAA Division III leading the 2007-08 team to a 21-5 record and the Association of Division III Independents Northeast championship while and being named the AD3I Coach of the Year. He led the Eagles to appearances in the North Atlantic Conference semifinals in 2009 and 2010 before taking a break from coaching following the 2011 season and moving to Lasell as the Sports Information Director. He also served as the women's volleyball coach at Green Mountain from 2006-2008, reaching the AD3I championship in 2007 and the NAC semifinals in 2008.

"I think Lasell is a place where the women's basketball program has a chance to be successful, and having gotten to know the women in the program while working in the department I am looking forward to working with them to help Lasell women's hoops achieve that success."
