Newton, Mass. (01/15/2013) - The Lasell College women's basketball team dropped a 72-60 Great Northeast Athletic Conference road game against the University of St. Joseph's (Conn.). The Lasers slid to 6-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while the Blue Jays climbed to 8-3 on the year and 1-1 in the league.

Freshmen Molly Lauver (Cambridge, N.Y.) led Lasell with 27 points, on 9-19 shooting from the floor, and sophomore Alexis Chappell (SPringfield, Mass.) joined Lauver in double figures with 17 points. Senior forward Kim Archibald snared a game-high 15 rebounds.

Mary Hyde (Derby, Conn.) paced the USJ attack, finishing with 27 points, 13 rebounds and six assists, while Devon Dilberto (Waterbury, Conn.) chipped in with 23 points and Heather Framski (Prospect, Conn.) tallied 11 points and nine rebounds.

Lasell held a 33-26 lead at the half, shooting 38.9% from the field and 42.9% from behind the arc, while holding the Blue Jays to 27.8% from the floor and 16.7% from three point territory. USJ came out firing to open the second half, drilling 6-12 from deep and 14-33 from the field, while the Lasers were unable to keep strong shooting performance going.

With the game tied at 41-41 with 11:06 to play, USJ went on a 15-2 run over the next four minutes behind three triples from Dilberot and a pair from Hyde to go ahead 56-43 and put the game out of reach.

The Blue Jays travel to Johnson and Wales on Thursday January 17th, while Lasell will travel to Northfield, Vt. for a GNAC match-up against Norwich University at 5:30 p.m. on the 17th as well.
