Women's Basketball Opens 2013 with Home Victory

Newton, Mass. (01/03/2013) - The Lasell College women's basketball team opened 2013 by earning their fifth victory of the season courtesy of a 69-52 defeat of Plymouth State University. The win pushed the Lasers to 5-5 on the season, while the Panthers fell to 1-9 overall.

Freshmen Molly Lauver (Cambridge, N.Y.) scored a game-high 19 points for Lasell, who also got double figure efforts from Danielle Autencio (Montville, Conn.) and Kayla Vincelette (Westport, Mass.) who added 12 and 10 points respectively. Senior Kim Archibald (Lewiston, Me.) helped the Lasers to a 42-31 edge on the glass by grabbing a game-high 12 boards and adding nine points on the night.

Katie Seraikas led the way for Plymouth netting 15 points while shooting 7-10 from the field.

Lasell shot 45% from the floor in the opening 20 minutes and went 10-12 from the charity stripe to take a 41-28 lead into intermission. While the hosts cooled off shooting the ball in the second half, Lasell's 11 offensive rebounds in the second half helped them hold off the visiting Panthers and pick up the victory.

Lasell will return to action on December 8th when they visit New England College for a 5:00 p.m. matchup with the Pilgrims.
