Lasell Tops Gordon in Women’s Hoops Action

Newton, Mass. (12/11/12) – The Lasell College women's basketball team collected their fourth win of the season, defeating Gordon College 65-41 on Tuesday evening. The Lasers improved to 4-5 on the season in their final contest before break, while Gordon fell to 2-5 on the season.

Sophomore Danielle Autencio (Montville, Conn.) posted her third double-double of the season leading Lasell with a team-high 15 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and a trio of steals and assists. Freshmen Molly Lauver (Cambridge, N.Y.) added 10 points six rebounds and five assists, and classmate Ginelle Cola (Lowell, Mass.) finished with a career-high 10 points on 5-9 shooting from the floor. Senior Kim Archibald (Lewiston, Maine) chipped in with seven points and a season-high 10 rebounds.

Junior Skylar Bareford (Stonington, Conn.) scored a game-high 17 points for the Fighting Scots, knocking down five three pointers on the night. Gordon sophomore Brooke Kratche (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) recorded a double-double, pulling down a game-high 17 rebounds while netting 11 points and dishing out 6 assists

Gordon led early in the game, shooting 4-6 from downtown in the opening eight minutes on their way to a 20-12 edge. Lasell would respond by clamping down defensively and closing the first half on a 24-0 run in which seven different players scored.

Lasell shot 46% from the floor and 11-14 from the free throw line while holding a plus-six rebounding edge to earn the 65-41 victory.

Gordon will play their final game of the first semester on Saturday December 15th when they host Wentworth Institute at 1pm. Lasell will return to action when they host Plymouth State on January 3rd at 5:30 p.m.
