Women's Basketball Stumbles at Framingham State

Framingham, Mass. (12/1/12) - The Lasell College women's basketball team lost on the road at Framingham State, 68-47 on Saturday afternoon. The loss evens the Lasers record at 3-3 on the year, while Framingham improved to 2-3 with the victory.

Freshmen Molly Lauver (Cambridge, N.Y.) scored a team-high 12 points, while totaling seven rebounds, four steals and three assists. Sophomore Justine Ryan (Norwood, Mass.) finished with eight points and three assists for Lasell, who also got six points and seven rebounds from Danielle Autencio (Montville, Conn.).

Madeleine Park (Blue Hill, Maine) finished with a game-high 22 points for Framingham State, while Kia Minor (Edgartown, Mass.) added 19 points and Kristen Hoffman (Foxboro, Mass.) submitted a quality all-around performance with eight points, six steals, five assists and four rebounds.

The Rams out-shot Lasell 44% to 31% from the field, while using a 36-24 edge on points in the paint and out-scoring Lasell 16-6 on second chance points. 

After scoring the game's first four points, Lasell struggled to score, falling behind by as many as 13 points before clawing their way back. The Lasers trimmed the lead to eight on three different occasions throughout the rest of the first half, but the Rams closed the half scoring 12 of the final 14 points in the opening stanza to build a 42-24 lead.

Framingham scored the first six points of the second half, and Lasell was never able to bring the deficit below 20 the rest of the way, ultimately falling 68-47.

Framingham will return to action on Thursday, when they travel to Anna Maria for a 7 p.m. non-conference matchup. Lasell will be back on the hardwood on Tuesday December 4th when they host Fitchburg State in a 6 p.m. contest.
