Women's Basketball Falls at Trinity

Newton, Mass. (11.27/12) - The Lasell College women's basketball team suffered their second road defeat of the season, falling 69-40 to Trinity College on Tuesday evening. The loss evened the Lasers record at 2-2 on the season, while the Bantams improved to 3-1 with the victory.

Danielle Autencio (Montville, Conn.) paced Lasell with 10 points, Alexis Chappell (Springfield, Mass.) scored 7 points and snared a game-high 12 rebounds with Justine Ryan (Norwood, Mass.) chipping in with seven points.

The Bantams balanced attack saw 11 players score without a single player reaching double figures in point. Mackenzie Griffin (Stamford, Conn.) scored nine points while pulling down seven rebounds, Shantel Hanniford (Nanucket, Mass.) added nine points, and Moriah Sweeney (Ramsey N.J.) scored eight points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Trinity.

The Lasers grabbed a season-high 18 offensive rebounds, but that wasn't enough to offset a cold shooting night as they shot 21% from the floor. Trinity utilized a 29-63 shooting performance from the field and a 40-14 edge in bench scoring to earn their third win of the season.

The Bantams will host Western Connecticut State on Thursday in a 7:30 pm non-conference tilt, while Lasell will travel to Newbury College for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off on Thursday the 29th.
